DHI Hair Transplant Turkey

DHI Hair Transplant is one of the most efficient hair restoration methods. Turkey is currently the best country globally for hair transplantation, thanks to the advanced technologies and techniques employed. Direct Hair Implantation (DHI) is the best example of one of the most advanced methods for treating hair loss in patients. With this method hair grafts are implanted into the recipient area directly with a special tool, called the Choi implanter pen. The DHI Method is a great option for patients looking for a less invasive procedure, an unshaven hair transplant and a more natural look.

At the Alana Hair Clinic, we provide one of the best DHI hair transplants in Istanbul. Our doctors are experienced professionals who pay the utmost attention to the right density, depth, and angle of the transplanted grafts.

What is a DHI Hair Transplant?

Although all hair transplant methods provide good results with a natural look, the DHI technique represents the most avant-garde procedure in the hair restoration industry. Direct Hair Implantation or DHI refers to a method including Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) and the implanting of grafts onto the recipient area using a Choi implanter pen.

The DHI hair method skips the step of channel opening in the recipient area. Each hair graft is loaded into the implanter pen and is directly implanted onto the scalp immediately after the channel opening. With the Choi implanter pen doctors can give the right angle and depth to the grafts to get a more natural result. With the DHI technique, patients only need to shave the donor area and not the entire head, making it a prefered method for female hair transplantation.

Our surgeons will check your hair condition and discuss the possible results and expectations from the operation. Depending on the reasons for your hair loss, the type of alopecia, the size of your recipient and donor areas, your age and gender, you may be eligible for a DHI hair implantation or not. If everything is correct, we will proceed to the next phase.

Step 2 :
Preparation and Anaesthesia Phase:
How Is Follicular Unit 13
The DHI hair restoration method is a hair transplantation procedure that does not require patients to get their hair shaved. With the DHI method, you only need to shave or trim your donor area, and not your head entirely. After preparing the donor area, the whole head will be sterilized and ready for anaesthesia. In this phase, the anesthesiologist will apply local anaesthesia on the scalp. Once the tissue is ready, you will go for the extraction phase.
Step 3 :
How Is Follicular Unit 14
“Follicular Unit Extraction” will be applied on the donor area. In this method grafts will be extracted one by one with micro-punches, leaving just micro-scars on the donor area that will fade away while being covered as hair grows after a few months. The extracted follicles will be loaded into the hollow needle of the Choi implanter pen.
Step 4:

Without opening any canals in the recipient area, the pen carrying the hair grafts inside will open the canals and inject the hair directly into the scalp. Professional doctors at our Alana Clinic will implant the follicles in the most natural angle and direction.

Step 5:
After Operation Check-up:

The post-operation check up will take place two days after your implantation. Your operation team in the Alana Hair Clinic will make sure your newly implanted hair has entered the healing stage. Once check-up is over, the doctors will wash your head with the best stimulating shampoo to support implantation. You can also prepare all post-op treatments and medication in the Alana Hair Clinic for your healing period.

What is the Choi Pen Technique in DHI?

The Choi Pen is one of the newest techniques in hair transplantation in Turkey and the world. Also known as Choi Implanter Pen or DHI Pen, the DHI Implanter Pen is an instrument with a hollow needle in the end with 0.5-1.5 mm width. This hollow needle has a plunger at the very end. Once the follicle is put into the sharp hollow needle, the doctor will inject the needle into the scalp and by pressing the plunger, the graft will be implanted into the tissue.

In one operation doctors use 2-6 DHI pens at the same time. Doctors use different pens according to the size of the grafts with one, two or three follicles.

Hair Transplant FUE vs DHI

The main difference between DHI and FUE methods is the implantation phase. In the DHI method, the hair grafts will be implanted directly, while in FUE technique, first a canal is opened and then the hair is placed inside the canal.

In DHI technique, the doctors have more control over the angle, depth and density of the grafts, therefore the hair result can be more natural.

In DHI the extracted grafts can be implanted into the recipient area immediately. This gives a higher survival chance to the grafts. In the FUE, the extracted grafts will be rested in a special solution and then implanted to the opened canals.

Due to no blood in the DHI method, doctors have a better chance to implant the grafts closer to each other with a more natural direction.

In DHI technique, the hair loading into the Choi pen is a time-consuming procedure, therefore in one session the maximum number of grafts can be 2500 grafts, whereas in the FUE method, the maximum number in one session can be 5000.

Unlike the FUE method, in DHI you need to trim or shave the donor area, while in the FUE technique you must shave all your head.

Recovery period is much faster in DHI technique and patients can start their routine life sooner.
